Sierra de Toloño, another Rioja
Sierra de Toloño is Sandra Bravo 's estate, established in 2012 after various experiences around the world and seven years working in Priorat (Catalonia) at Celler Masroig and Portal del Montsant. However, it is in her native Rioja , and more specifically in Rioja Alavesa , the Basque part of La Rioja, that she decided to write her own story. Basque Country roots are undeniable! One wonders if there are any Basques outside this region? And it's easy to see why!

To get back to Sandra, we've been following her since the beginning, because we sensed the potential she possessed and would bring to her project. Years have passed, and accolades have poured in. Notably, Tim Atkin, in his annual report on La Rioja, places her estate among the region's elite, alongside legendary and historic estates such as Lopez de Heredia (Vina Tondonia), Marques de Murietta (Castillo Ygay), Abel Mendoza, Remelluri (Telmo Rodriguez), Artadi, Contador... Quite an impressive list!
We're not usually big fans of guidebooks and other travel advisors, but in this particular case it's important to show how far Sandra has come in such a short time in a region that seemed static and timeless.

The wines are primarily sourced from very old, interplanted vines perched on the mountainside: the Sierra de Toloño, which gave its name to the estate. The highest plots reach nearly 700 meters in altitude , on very hard limestone soils. The wines are remarkably fresh, built for aging, and a touch austere in their youth. This is why we are offering you one of Sandra's great wines from an unusual vintage, which we have aged for several years in our cellars.
