Hegaldaka, the Basque jewel

In 2019, Christian Bourrus replanted 2 hectares in a single block on his native land in Saint Jean le Vieux, a village belonging to the Irouléguy appellation area. One plot, therefore, but split into two terroirs (Ophite and Limestone) and two exposures: South/Southeast & West;

The unique feature of this estate is that it produces only one wine , and what's more, a white wine in an appellation primarily dedicated to red wine production. It is replanting the typical grape varieties of the Pyrenean foothills : Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, and
Petit Courbu. And from the outset, the choice was made to cultivate the vineyard using organic farming methods.

We discovered this wine through a knowledgeable enthusiast, in a blind tasting, and what a revelation! It was the 2021 vintage, his first, and everything seemed perfectly natural. A wine that combines great maturity, rich fruit, but also minerality and freshness—a delicate balancing act. The hallmark of great wines!

We welcome the 2022 vintage with immense enthusiasm, a wine that is already beautifully structured, offering hedonistic pleasure, yet one that will stand the test of time. A truly gastronomic wine, and it is no wonder that this limited production is already graced the finest tables in France.
