Nanclares & Prieto, the Albariño virtuosos

Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto run a small, 5-hectare estate in the Val do Salnés, the birthplace of Albariño and the most planted area of the Galician Rías Baixas. The vines, ranging from 30 to over 100 years old, are cultivated according to organic farming principles, and the wines are made using indigenous yeasts. From this small vineyard comes a myriad of very different cuvées, distinguished by the soils, the winemaking techniques, and the containers used (jars, casks, tanks, etc.). The ño, in these expert hands, is radiant, vibrant, saline, resolutely facing the Atlantic, and the wines produced here evolve magnificently with time.
