Eloi Gros, hillside wines

We are proud to participate on our modest scale in the emergence of a very promising young talent that is flourishing in the steep hills of Beaujolais .

A key figure at Domaine Marcel Lapierre , which also passed through the hands of Michel Guignier, Eloi Gros graced us with a dazzling first vintage. With his 2023s, he confirms his talent!

On a steep plot of barely 66 ares in the commune of Vaux-en-Beaujolais, Eloi is dedicated to showcasing this breathtaking part of the Beaujolais region. This plot, named "Sous Montmain," is a true treasure . With no close neighbors, this terroir of blue stones, surrounded by forests, allows him to cultivate these old Gamay vines without any additives in the vineyards—a philosophy that continues in the cellar.

The result is a sincere , straightforward wine, with a lovely structure but with the suppleness of wines made with spontaneity.

In 2023, a new plot of land with blue stone soils of 33 ares called "au laveur" was added to the map and it was a real favorite due to its finesse and brilliance.

Ultimately, "sous Montmain" would be more typical of Morgon or even Côtes de Brouilly with its spicy peppery character in contrast to the great finesse typical of Fleurie of the "au laveur" plot

Eloi Gros produces wines discreetly and, in our opinion, belongs to the lineage of the region's great artisan winemakers, whose sincerity and precision will surely move you. Moreover, as is often the case in Beaujolais, he's a nice guy!
