As you know, at Vins de Lieux we take special care to find wines from here and elsewhere.

Istvan Bencze is one of those winemakers whose bottles have particularly touched us in recent years among the wines we offer beyond our borders.

In Hungary , on the gentle shores of Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe, Istvan cultivates numerous grape varieties, which he vinifies and ages for extended periods on his lees, favoring amphora aging. Since 2011, he has been dedicated to producing the most authentic wines possible from these exceptional basalt terroirs. The wines crafted here are vibrant, unique, possess a rare complexity, and have excellent aging potential.

A field whose international reputation is growing and, in our opinion, largely justified.
