The Lucas-Salmon estate, the future of the Nantes region

Here's a young talent to watch very closely! After honing his skills in various wine-related fields, including far from his native land, In New Zealand, Mickaël returned to his family's land in Château-Thebaud (one of the 10 communal crus of Muscadet) to set up his organic farming project. He took over 8 hectares in 2019 under his own name, or rather under the name Lucas-Salmon , a tribute to his great-grandparents, who were also winegrowers.

The wines are ambitious, unpretentious, earthy , and surprise us, especially in red, a color whose range of possibilities remains largely unexplored and where everything remains to be done to make this historic region shine.

Indeed, Muscadet , it bears repeating, is not simply a chilled bar wine served with half a dozen oysters. It represents one of the most interesting terroirs in France, producing wines with phenomenal aging potential, skillfully traversing decades.
