Coteau Libre, the rebirth of a vineyard

This is the bold gamble of Paul Aublet and Mathieu Fleuriet, two winegrower friends who have undertaken to clear and replant vines on old granite terraces once cultivated in Saint-Privat du Dragon in the heart of the Haute-Loire .
A colossal amount of work which today allows them to have a little over 5 hectares at almost 700 meters altitude but protected by a rather warm and dry microclimate due to its southern orientation and the foehn effect provided by the surrounding peaks.
The grape varieties are very diverse, including Syrah, but also Pinot Noir and Gamay. The white wines feature Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, and Pinot Gris. These are primarily massal varieties from Lilian Bérillon, resulting in a high degree of genetic diversity; for example, there are nearly 600 different Syrah varieties .
More than a project, it is the promise of a great wine that is taking shape before us and that will give us plenty to talk about when the harvests are more generous and the vines have aged.
