Domaine de la Côte, the cult of Pinot Noir

Domaine de la Côte is a project by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorma, comprising six vineyards planted across 15 hectares in the far west of the Santa Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara County, 11 km from the Pacific Ocean. Each vineyard has its own unique geology, aspect, elevation, and microclimate—in short, its own terroir. Such variations in terroir within such close proximity are unprecedented in California.

The vineyards are cultivated using organic farming methods and the wines are made with the "add nothing, take nothing away" philosophy. The Pinot Noirs , made with whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, are of great intensity.

Often compared to the most iconic estate in Burgundy, the Pinot Noirs produced here nonetheless rank among the finest expressions on the planet.

Phelan Farm, the Californian treasure

Here are the rare bottles from Phelan Farm , the personal project of Rajat Parr , one of the most influential figures in the wine world. What really matters is that this man is a true wine lover, and anyone who tastes a bottle from Phelan Farm will understand.

Phelan Farm is his most personal, most intimate project, where he will finally settle down and where his experience, his encyclopedic knowledge and his sharp palate give birth to the most sincere wines we have ever tasted in this country.
It's a haven nestled amidst rocky cliffs and pine forests, enjoying a cool climate on California's Central Coast north of Santa Barbara, where he acquired a few acres of vineyards tucked between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. A true sanctuary where he replanted the finest vines from some of the most iconic winemakers of old Europe.

For every grape variety vinified here, we approach the sublime. Each cuvée is a jewel , dispensed sparingly. These are sincere wines, far removed from the American standards that often veer into caricature. Ultimately, we are in the presence of wines to be tasted at least once in a lifetime, and which will easily triumph at your next major tastings.

Sandhi, an ode to finesse

Sandhi Wines is located in Santa Rita Hills , Santa Barbara County. In 2010, Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman acquired both old and new vineyards facing north, cooled by sea breezes, with unusual soil rich in minerals and fossil elements. Sandhi represents a union essential to winemaking: the collaboration between man, land, and plant. The voluntary participation of these three elements is necessary to make great wine , and the winemaker must make this collaboration rich and nourishing for all. Understanding these joint efforts allows Sandhi to explore Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County.

Evening Land, Burgundian accent in Oregon

A pioneer in quality viticulture and later biodynamic farming in Oregon , Evening Land is now managed by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman of Domaine de la Côte. The long history of the Evening Land vineyards allows them to benefit from an exceptional and healthy heritage, as well as a deep understanding of their diverse terroirs. The wines produced here would put many a Burgundian to shame.

Piedrasassi, the great Syrah of Santa Barbara

A top-notch winemaker and vineyard manager at Domaine de la Côte, Sashi Moorman launched his most personal project, Piedrasassi, in 2003. With the help of his family, Sashi produces wine and bread from his own vines and grains, seeking to reveal and celebrate the unique character of the Central Coast region. Primarily cultivating Syrah on the cooler terroirs, Sashi and his team strive to achieve distinctive and balanced Syrah profiles. Whole-cluster fermentation, indigenous yeasts, and minimal sulfur at bottling are employed. The resulting wines possess a freshness and precision unmatched in this part of California .
