PAULINE MAZIOU

This is an area I recently discovered through a sommelier friend working in a two- Michelin- starred establishment.

Served blind at the end of 2022, his "Bonne Etoile" vintage was one of the most moving wines of recent months, undeniably concealing a nascent talent .

A stroke of luck or a stroke of genius? Was this lucky star just a shooting star? We had to dig deeper into the question and go and meet this face, until then unknown, that of Pauline Maziou , aka the fairy Paulette, a winemaker from Ardèche producing uncompromising wines.

Strangely enough, the wine in question had stylistic similarities to those of the illustrious Jean Delobre of the Sept Lunes farm, so it was a complete surprise to learn that Pauline had trained with him, and that she still took a lot of wise advice from this local icon.

Pauline works naturally both in the vineyard and in the cellar, without additives, reclaiming old, scattered plots and breathing new life into them. She produces different cuvées with enigmatic names, a radical approach in service of an ideal.

Pauline's wines are quite difficult to find, primarily due to her small production of around 10,000 bottles, coupled with very strong demand from enthusiasts passionate about her handcrafted wines. Things are happening in the Ardèche , a region to watch closely, because it will soon be too late.
