White Beaujolais wines are rare, and Jean Max has made a strong impression with this Chardonnay, grown on the clay-limestone soils of southern Beaujolais and now patiently aged for two years (one year in barrels followed by one year in tanks). We don't like comparisons, but this wine, imbued with a sense of freedom, reminds us of the great wines of the Valette family. A vibrant, energetic wine that, as it ages, will reward the most patient.
